As a natural corollary to his career on the stage, he got a lot many offers from TV serial producers when satellite TV started becoming popular. Some of his roles as the strict father and principle-oriented millionaire in "Parivartan", as a scheming politician in "Mahayagya" and a disciplinarian yet loving and caring family head in "Ashirwad" have won him lot of awards, a tremendous fan following and accolades.

Govind Namdev won a lot of praise for his portrayal of historic figures. "Mahatma Phule" in the telefilm "Ek Baghi Mahatma". As the revolutionary father of Morarji Desai in the tele-serial "Morarji" and the disciplined father of Bhimrao Ambedkar in the landmark film "Baba Saheb Ambedkar".
